Hi! I’m Jess. Come on in to jfaye home! I’m delighted you stopped by. If you're looking for inspiring home décor ideas, practical ways to organize your life, or business resources then you’re in the right place. I started this blog to share the knowledge, experiences, and skills that I've gained throughout my career and education. I’ve worked for stellar brands such as Red Bull, IKEA, Oakley, and Speedo and have learned about organizing your life, creating great processes to run a business, and designing functional/inspiring homes. In a nutshell, I’m a strategic, organized, process-oriented creative (which apparently is like a unicorn).
I currently reside in southern California with my handsome husband Sean and furry pup Baxter Burgundy (yes, I named Baxter after the movie Anchorman with Will Ferrell). We reside in a homey 3.5 bedroom/2 bath 1940’s beach house. I moved in this past December and have been slowly transforming the long-reigning bachelor pad into our lovely home.
Me in a nutshell…I’ve been great white shark diving. If you’ve seen the movie Jaws then you know what I’m talking about. Am I crazy? Perhaps, but I did it willingly as a graduation gift to myself for finishing my MBA program in Project Management. I mean, what better way to celebrate 384 hours of reading and 1,632 hours of writing papers then to risk your life diving with apex predators? It turned out to be one of the best trips of my life…so far! I took my dad with me, as we are both shark enthusiasts and have been watching Discovery Channel’s “Shark Week” religiously since I was 8 years old. If you've ever considered diving with great whites I highly recommend doing it! It’s a life-changing experience! You can take the girl out of Jersey, but you can’t take the Jersey out of the girl. I grew up in southern New Jersey as one of six kids. The Cliffs Notes version is I have one dad, one mom, one stepmom, two brothers, one stepsister, one stepbrother, one half brother, and a partridge and a pear tree (minus the partridge). I loved growing up in a big family…although I didn’t know it at the time. Since moving to California, three of my brothers and my mom have moved out here with me, which has made California feel like home. I’m still crossing my fingers in hopes that the rest of my family will join us on the “left coast” sooner than later!
I take “chasing your dreams” seriously! Since college I’ve always wanted to move to California. Then one day I bought a one-way ticket, quit my job, and on my last day of work I gave back my company car, phone, and computer. On September 2, 2006 I boarded a plane with two suitcases, a pillow, $830, and whole lot of determination. I landed in a one-bedroom, one-bathroom, no-furniture apartment with my best friend from middle school. She too had moved from the East Coast two months prior to my arrival. I bought a bicycle and hit the ground running. Within a month, I found a job at IKEA as a graphic designer/visual merchandiser. I rode my bike everyday for two years to and from work at 4am, rain or shine. This experience turned out to be one of the best character-building moments in my life. I learned a lot about determination, fortitude, passion, and purpose. I’m a firm believer that every experience in life prepares you for the next and therefore you should cherish your “now” because it’s the stepping-stone to your future. Why blogging? After owning a greeting card company in college, running a direct sells business, and working in the corporate world, I have finally found a platform that combines all the things I'm passionate about. I’m here to learn, create, and share! I look forward to meeting new friends and getting to know those that share the same passions and interests! I don’t know it all and I’m far from perfect. Like most of you I’m learning as I go. I want to invite you to join me on this journey as I build my blog, my business, and my future.
